“Freedom from the Fear of the Power of the Kingdom of Darknessby Mrs Mabirimisa, Wednesday Service, the 23rd May 2012. http://kutamaphc.weebly.com/23-may-2012-wednesday.html

Scripture reading: 1 Samuel 17: 38-39 38 So Saul clothed David with his armor, and he put a bronze helmet on his head; he also clothed him with a coat of mail. 39 David fastened his sword to his armor and tried to walk, for he had not tested them. And David said to Saul, “I cannot walk with these, for I have not tested them.” So David took them off.NKJV.
1 Sam 17:45-4745 Then David said to the Philistine, “You come to me with a sword, with a spear, and with a javelin. But I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. 46 This day the Lord will deliver you into my hand, and I will strike you and take your head from you. And this day I will give the carcasses of the camp of the Philistines to the birds of the air and the wild beasts of the earth, that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel. 47 Then all this assembly shall know that the Lord does not save with sword and spear; for the battle is the Lord’s, and He will give you into our hands.”NKJV.
Goliath was a very frightful warrior. David on the other hand was unknown and inferior stature. He was persuaded to put on the amour of war but after he tried the amour on, he refused it; it was too heavy for him. He took it off. He faced Goliath without putting anything on. David said to King Saul ““I cannot walk with these, for I have not tested them.”” Goliath challenged him “Who are you to come and face me?” he was over confident with himself, a man from the kingdom of darkness. Goliath was sure that there was no other mighty man than him. David said to Him “I come to you in the name of Jesus.”  Within a short space of time, David had hit Goliath with a small stone and only one hit sent Goliath to the ground.

Let’s compare Goliath with our problems, in their different varieties and portions. Compare that very problem with Goliath. It is armed with a very strong amour, it is armed with weapons and when you look at it, you even feel tired and weak. You know that you are a Christian who believes in God. It may be a problem in your family; it may be very tough on you, just say “I am going before God”. When these tough problems come before us let’s humble ourselves before God. Let’s refuse to put on amour we are not used to, amour that we have not tested.

Let’s not do things we are not used to in order to secure a victory or a breakthrough. We must refuse and say “I cannot walk with these, for I have not tested them.” Look at your problem, the Goliath, face to face. This Goliath is fully armed, has lots of weapons to kill. The Israelites were stranded and confused about how to deal with this giant. David was only coming to bring supplies to his brothers. David knew God and said to the giant, to Goliath “You come to me with a sword, with a spear, and with a javelin. But I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.”

The name of Jesus works, it is powerful. It needs you to be humble like David. Don’t be like Goliath who was proud and haughty. If you are still proud your problem will become bigger. Goliath can’t defeat Goliath, both of them are too proud but when you humble yourself like David and come down, then you will give the honour due to God and you will prevail. Refuse to put on ropes around your waste, to put on animal skins around your arms and hands as a means of protection. Stand fast on your faith in God. Stand fast so that no matter how big the problem is, you will put your trust in God, knowing that God is able to stand against this problem and prevail on your behalf.

Let’s allow ourselves to become humble before to God so we can prevail. Let’s allow God to give us a smooth and small stone that will bring down the giant facing us, which will bring down that Goliath in your life. Just say “Through this small pebble, this stone will fall to the ground.” The bible encourages us in Eph 6:10-1110 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.” NKJV.

Let’s commit ourselves unto God fully and with all our being and live under the total control and guide of the word of God. We will see that it is possible. Let’s put on our spiritual amour so that we can fight the fiery darts of the enemy.

The enemy will get tired when he finds us fully armed but when he finds you proud and haughty, you will fall. You may always be in church but with pride you will never prevail against the enemy. Let’s live in accordance to the word of God. Let’s not be difficult and proud like Goliath. Allow yourself to be taught and to be molded by the word of God. This way we will do the will of God. Let’s refuse the kingdom of darkness and stand strong in our faith and trust in the kingdom of God.
